In November we had the opportunity to welcome Zoe, a very talented illustration student undertaking work experience with our team.
In November 2015 I had the exciting opportunity to gain work experience with Crowd as part of an Independent study unit during my second year of undergraduate study at the Arts University Bournemouth. During the month I was kept busy working on two exciting commercial projects where I was asked to research, explore, and create an Illustrative style to further apply to the two specific projects set by Jamie.
Working within the friendly team and dedicated workspace in the studio I was first asked to create commercial Illustrations exploring the use of Polygon art. To do this, with the help of Jamie and the design team, I researched and learnt how to produce polygon art, to then further apply into commercial illustrations. I developed a technique in creating polygon art and then began to apply it to relevant digital Illustrations. With help and feedback on how to improve my Illustrations from team members and Jamie I began to push my self and created Illustrations in a commercial style I never would have before, something I am pleased to have done!
With these new skills, I was also asked to use the same Illustrative style to create a design proposal for possible merchandise. Here I learnt how to create a professional design proposal document, another useful skill to have!
Gaining experience with Crowd has been very enjoyable and extremely beneficial as its forced me to expand out of my comfort zone. I’ve had the opportunity to work on commercial designs, which otherwise I wouldn’t have had. Plus I learnt a new set of skills, which I can develop upon and apply to future projects. Finally its given me great insight into the processes and requirements it takes to work in a vibrant and creative design studio like Crowds.
And to top off this fantastic experience I got to finish my placement in style by participating in a team event involving a December dip in the sea with the rest of the team in support of Macmillan charity. What a way to finish! Thank you Crowd!
