Monday:
I walked in to my first day at work and I’m going to be honest, I was petrified. Walking in, I was already in awe of the work surrounding me. I was invited to sit down by lots of smiley, welcoming faces. Jamie wasted no time; in an hour I was already up to date on the next potential project, gathering research and finding incentives, followed by a meeting with some of the Crowd social team. Next, I was tasked with looking at areas of development for a hotel chain’s website. The day finished at 6.00 and all my mind could think was I can’t wait for tomorrow.
Tuesday:
My second day - yay! I got into the office and I was ready for anything that Jamie and Co wanted me to do. However, the team asked me to list the pros and cons of what I thought was an amazing website already! But Lois showed Jamie and I some of her innovative ideas and as a result, I felt confident in doing some of my own. After a lunch full of funny chats, Jamie sent me the credentials for Crowd. This was hugely exciting as I could see all the projects Crowd have finished and to little surprise, they were all astonishingly amazingly brilliant. At this point I knew that I definitely wanted to pursue design as a career and that I had been completely inspired by Crowd.
Wednesday:
Jack greeted me on Wednesday with a new brief entirely. I was designated the duty of having a go at designing some logos and I was praying I didn’t let Crowd down. Pencil in hand and sketch book open, I started sketching. Three pages later, I was approached by Jamie as he wanted to see my designs. Jamie thought they were all ok, nonetheless he favoured one particular design more than the others. Even though I tried my hardest to convert the logo from paper to screen, I just couldn’t get an accurate representation of it. Therefore Jack willingly offered to do it for me. To have the logo I helped to design, sent to a client was a very big moment for me.
Thursday:
Getting more and more confident as the week went on, I was extremely glad to offer assistance to Lois for her pitch to a client the following week! I gathered lots of research: Travel agency prices, reviews on the web and how that assisted the strategic and creative approach Crowd is going to present. Later in the day I was filled in about a future infographic and that my responsibility was to accumulate exciting and original content for it.
Friday:
My last day *Insert sad emoji*, but I got stuck in to this new challenge of finding exciting content for the infographic. Did you know that out of all the countries, on average Denmark sells the most expensive cappuccino? Then I had my last meeting of the week with Lois and Jamie about the hotel chain - which looks superb! At lunch Crowd had a selection of sweet things on offer, they know me so well. Then I carried on the infographic information until I had to leave.
I’m so lucky to of have had this opportunity and I will remember the Crowd team and this experience forever!
Meet more of the team.
