Global digital marketing agency; #TeamCrowd has been very busy recently and we were rewarded for our work by being invited to the MacGuffin Project; Bournemouth’s hottest new attraction. We’d heard a lot about this new themed escape room. The spooky, dark premise excited some and put a couple on edge. The attraction has received stellar reviews since opening and this got us even more hyped up about the experience.
In short; The MacGuffin Carnival was a popular spectacle ran by Mr. Marlon MacGuffin. His only child Morfran became besotted with reading about mechanics and steam power. Upon his father passing his passion for science developed further, he tried to create a machine to manage the carnival. This dream quickly turned into a nightmare as the MacGuffin Machine took over… It was our job to destroy the machine and avenge Morfran.
Scoreboards meant competition...
6 of the team ventured down to the MacGuffin Project and naturally as soon as we saw scoreboards our competitive edge set in. The time limit was 60 minutes to complete the task and escape the room, we, of course, took it upon ourselves to not only escape the room but also beat the 30-minute record. If only it went like that...
The team entered the room, an old workshop reflective of where the MacGuffin machine was first engineered. We quickly realised that the key to solving all of the riddles was teamwork. The team pulled together and motored through the first 2 of 6 challenges, only to be stopped in our tracks by the third. Ideas and theories as to how we could make a frequency machine work were plenty, but they were to no avail. Nevertheless, the team persevered and with a little external support, we escaped the room, completing all of our tasks in the process.
Whilst we did not break any records 'The MacGuffin Project’ provided a great opportunity for different members of the team to work together, and once again it highlighted the team spirit and camaraderie which is shared at Crowd.
