Rameen's Story - A Summer Internship with Crowd Dubai

How did you get to intern at Crowd?

This time last year I just started my 12-month placement at Unilever in London. Thinking ahead to the following year, I knew I wanted to spend the summer before university with my family in Dubai. My family and friends were of the opinion that I should give myself time off and not pursue a summer internship - considering I just got back from working full time!

Despite this, I was keen to experience the way in which agencies worked. Having had the chance to work closely with our lead agency at Unilever, I was intrigued to explore a career that seemed both exciting and fast paced. I wanted to try it for myself.

With this in mind, I reached out to Tom,  to explore the opportunity of interning at Crowd Dubai over the summer. Within days, Tom scheduled a meet up the following month when I was in town. A year later, I’m sitting in Crowd Dubai’s office - my internship about to come to a close.

How’s it been working at Crowd?

Interning at Crowd has been an extremely enjoyable experience. From day one, I was welcomed into a diverse team of smiling faces. Having heard about boutique companies that had no more than a handful of employees, I was curious about the working dynamic and found myself instantly drawn to the concept. Company culture is like no other. From Tom’s great sense of humour to Carmi’s supportive attitude, the team always made sure I felt informed, included and comfortable.

What type of experience did you gain at Crowd?

Over the past few weeks, I primarily worked with the Social Media team on a range of diverse clients. During my first couple of days, Ivana introduced me to client profiles, our service offering and the overall value we seek to add. Since then, I’ve gained valuable experience with Carmi on all things social - from developing content for social channels, blogs, and newsletters to thinking about big campaign ideas for our clients. In addition, I researched key social marketing concepts, saw them in action and took on the challenge of optimising a website for the first time. Some of the research I did here has even sparked a potential dissertation topic!

To anyone looking for an internship opportunity or work experience, look no further than Crowd. I’m so grateful to have had the chance to meet the team and work alongside them. I hope to return to one of Crowd’s offices in future.
