Instagram’s Trend Talk in partnership with WSGN surveyed Gen Z trends across the US, UK, Brazil, India, and South Korea. The survey covered trends that matter to Gen Z to predict what can be expected to be seen on Instagram in 2024.
According to the report, 2024 will be the year of meaningful connections, as Gen Z users are using social media to keep in touch with friends and family. Another key trend that is suspected to gain momentum in the new year is private group interactions and minimal self-broadcasting.
The top predicted fashion trends of 2024 are modesty, thrifting, heirloom, vintage, sustainability, authenticity, and DIY. Younger audiences are also driving the ‘Financial freedom through self-employment’ conversation and investing more time and energy into exploring a less-trodden career path.
Other top trends include wellness, inclusivity, and celebrity fandoms. Good health remains the main priority, and many Instagram users are turning towards finding and maintaining the correct internet decorum as it is a major contributor to mental health.
2024 is being hailed as the ‘Lucky era’, and the ‘Year to be unapologetically myself’. This offers a lot of clarity as to how Gen Z is viewing themselves and the world. It also throws light on the importance of adapting to this new culture for brands who want to stay relevant and appeal to their Instagram audience.
